French Island is about 60 km from the centre of Melbourne, and is easily accessible, despite being so untouched.
The Tortoise Head Lodge is about 200 metres from the Tankerton Jetty, where the ferry from Stony Point docks. As the map below shows, two thirds of French Island is National Park.
